The Powerwall is the new ‘superstar’ of the solar energy world!

Solar Mad is an authorised re-seller and a certified installer for the Tesla Powerwall. Our team undergo extensive training and attend regular refresher courses to ensure we qualify to work with this exciting product.

The Powerwall can be ground mounted or wall mounted and weighs around 110kg which is pretty impressive when compared to much heavier, traditional deep cycle batteries.

It's powered by a state-of-the-art rechargeable lithium NMC (Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt) battery cells developed in collaboration with Panasonic which are similar to the cells used in the Tesla electric vehicles.

The Powerwall unit is single phase and three-phase compatible and has a built-in inverter which means there's no need to buy a multi-mode inverter and makes installation quicker, easier and cheaper.

With 13.5 kilowatt-hours of usable storage, the Powerwall 2 has over twice the capacity of the original Tesla Powerwall (6.4 kilowatt-hours when new) and is able to provide 5 kilowatts of continuous power, 7kW at peak capacity.

The system has four modes of operation and, one of the best features of the Powerwall 2 is that it will continue to power your house in the event of a blackout. In fact, multiple batteries can be installed together – up to 9 units - which would provide the average Australian household with more than two days power supply from battery storage alone.

Another benefit of the Tesla Powerwall is that it is ‘outdoor rated’ as its lithium-ion chemistry does not (unlike many on the market) deteriorate while operating at above 25°C or below 5°C.
